Prepgenie UKCAT Sample Test – Decision Analysis

Imagine visiting a foreign country…let’s say Japan. You don’t know Japanese, nor do you have a guide to help you around. Yet, you manage to find a hotel, have lunch, go sightseeing, travel by tube, and even attend a Sumo! How do you do it? You buy a map. A map lists information using signs and symbols. You decipher and follow them, and you have the time of your life.

Using codes to convey information is one of the most basic ways to communicate. As a doctor you will have to read a medical report or decipher notes of a fellow doctor. You will have to take decisions after considering these notes and reports.

UKCAT Subtest 4 assesses your ability to deduce concrete data from ambiguous information. A situation will be presented in the form of a text passage, table or graph followed by a set of codes that you need to break. How do you do it? Note the words represented by the numbers or letters in brackets. Numbers that appear side by side imply a close relationship. A space implies they aren’t closely related. A letter outside the brackets will apply to everything inside the brackets. Mere logical deduction is not enough to crack these codes. This UKCAT section is to stimulate decision making. The Prepgenie UKCAT Sample Test – Decision Analysis will give you the requisite practise.
